Guidescope Unveils Cutting-Edge Ad-Filtering Solution to Turbo Charge Travels on the Internet

New FREE Service Lets Consumers Take Control of Web Advertising and Surf Faster, Easier and Safer

Mendham, New Jersey - June 1, 2000 - Guidescope, Inc. today unveiled the most technologically advanced ad-filtering solution available to help consumers surf the Web up to three times faster. The free service, called Guidescope, was developed to speed consumer's access to information on the Internet by foregoing the display of ads on Web sites they visit. Using a proprietary, patent pending collaborative database, Guidescope blocks unwanted ads and graphics so they are never downloaded.

"If there is one thing all Internet users desire, it's faster browsing," said Thomas Matheson, president, Guidescope, Inc. "Many Internet users don't realize that when they visit a Web site, displaying the ads often takes the most time. By eliminating the ads with Guidescope, users get the average Web page 1.5 times faster."

The key to the Guidescope service is its database of Web advertisements, which it uses to filter out ads from Web sites users visit. Once the service is downloaded from the Guidescope Web site and installed, the Guidescope Menu appears in a small window on users' desktops. With a simple mouseclick on the "Start Block" icon on the Guidescope Menu and a simple change to their browser configuration, users engage the powerful filter, and immediately begin to get Web sites faster.

By clicking the "Ad List" icon, users can see a list of new ads and graphics that have recently been displayed on their screens and are given the opportunity to selectively block any or all of them. When any user in the Guidescope Web community blocks a new ad, the ad is automatically submitted to the Guidescope database. Once it is in the Guidescope database, it is filtered out for every Guidescope user. Therefore, all users receive the benefits of a growing collaborative database that is always up-to-date.

Because many Internet users are interested in certain types of ads or promotional offers, Guidescope has included an Opt-In feature, which users can customize to their personal interests. By choosing the Opt-In Setup link on the Guidescope.com Web site, users can choose subjects they are interested in. Special ads and offers fitting those categories are then delivered to their User Mail box (not the user's regular email box,) which they receive upon registration with Guidescope. As a result, users can take advantage of the enhanced browsing speed they get by using Guidescope and still view exciting ads and offers if and when they wish.

Also, the Guidescope User Mailbox that each user receives upon registration is anonymous, and is assigned only a mailbox number — Guidescope never asks a user for any information by which they can be personally identified. With anonymous User Mailboxes, Guidescope gives users the power to receive information from advertising and marketing companies and yet reveal their identities only if and when they choose to by actively responding to an offer.

"We know consumers are interested in seeing marketing messages, but they really only want to see the ones that are for products and services that interest them; , and they want to see them when they want. Guidescope gives users control over the marketing messages they receive," continued Matheson. "We believe that Opt-In advertising, like what we offer to Guidescope users, is the next logical step in the evolution in Internet advertising."

In addition to ease of use and the benefits of a Web community, Guidescope is also designed to help consumers surf safer by stopping ad companies from tracking their Web movements. Many ad companies record where consumers surf whenever a consumer views one of their ads. By tracking the ads, they know what sites consumers visit and when they go there. By blocking ads, Guidescope blocks the recording and helps protect users' privacy. Guidescope can even block "Web Bugs" (tiny, invisible graphics) from similarly recording users' surfing. Guidescope also protects users' privacy by preventing browsers from "leaking" private information from one site, where a user might have filled out a form, to the next site visited. (All browsers transmit "referrer" information, which in some cases can accidentally cause leaks like this.) Guidescope also helps consumers surf the Web easier with a simple, convenient user interface including one-click access to search engines, reference tools, and a powerful Web archive.

Guidescope Inc. is a privately held company offering the most technologically advanced ad- filtering solution available today. The Company was founded in early 2000 with the goal of helping individuals and businesses navigate the Web faster, safer, and easier. Guidescope uses unique, patent-pending technology to filter advertisements and other unwanted graphics from Web pages to speed access and increase privacy. Guidescope also offers a comprehensive, anonymous Opt-In service that gives its users control over the Web marketing messages they receive. Guidescope helps individuals enjoy the richness of the Web without the distraction, delays, and privacy risks caused by Internet advertisements.
