What is a local block file?
|
You can have the Guidescope software block and unblock URLs by specifying
the URLs in a file on your computer. The file that does this is known as
the local block file. The local block file overrides the blocking action
of our database and can do sophisticated "pattern matching" on URLs or domain names.

How do I use a local block file?
|
|
Using a text editor, create a file named "block.ini" in the directory
in which the Guidescope software is installed. List the domains you want
blocked or unblocked in block.ini.
List the domains you want unblocked preceded by a "~". For example, if block.ini contains:
|
bannerads.com
~my.bannerads.com
|
|
|
then all URLs that have "bannerads.com" in their domains will be blocked,
and all URLs that have "my.bannerads.com" in their domains will not
be blocked.
The block.ini file capability is provided for backwards compatibility with
the Internet Junkbuster. You can find more documentation on block file
pattern matching at the
Junkbusters site.
