Mozilla 1 or Netscape 6 Setup With Proxy
|
|
Connect Mozilla or Netscape to our software and our software to your proxy:
- Print out these instructions! After you start following them you won't be able
to scroll this window down to see the rest of these instructions.
- Make sure our software is installed and running. On Windows, our
Icon appears in the Windows Tray.
- Start Mozilla 1 or Netscape 6 and make sure that you are connected to the Internet and can browse.
- Select "Edit" and "Preferences..." from Mozilla's or Netscape's top menu, as shown on the right.
The "Preferences" form will pop up, as shown below.
- Click on the icon next to "Advanced".
- Click on "Proxies".
- Make sure that "Manual proxy configuration" is already checked.
If it isn't, then these aren't the right
instructions for you. Cancel the form and
click here to choose the correct instructions.
- There should already be an entry for the HTTP Proxy address and port, as shown in the example
above. (Your address and port will probably be different from what is shown.
Your address might be a name instead of a number.)
If there are no entries next to HTTP Proxy, then these aren't the right
instructions for you. Cancel the form and
click here to choose the correct instructions. Otherwise,
continue with these instructions.
- Write your HTTP Proxy address and port down! You will need them to complete Step 12.
- Enter HTTP Address "127.0.0.1" and Port "8000" as shown on the right.
Note that the address has three "dots" in it!
Do not change any other entries on the form; only change the
entries for HTTP.
- Click "OK" to complete the Preferences form.
- In the "Location" bar at the top of your browser, enter "http://set.proxy/address:port"
using the address and port values you wrote
down in Step 9, as shown in the example below. Use your
address and port values, not those shown in the example below. Be sure to hit the "Enter"
key on your keyboard to complete the entry.
Your browser will show the confirmation message:
Your proxy chaining settings are:
* address:port . .
where "address" and "port" are the values you entered.
- Setup is complete. Your browser is now configured to use the Guidescope service.
Click here to start using the Guidescope service.
