How do I turn ad blocking off?

When ad blocking is on, the Guidescope Menu displays "Ad Blk. is ON", as shown on the right. Click on the "Ad Blk. is ON" switch to stop blocking ads and other unwanted graphics. "Ad Blk. is OFF" will appear on the Guidescope menu to indicate that ad blocking is off.

When ad blocking is off, blocking of graphics is stopped and no URLs are sent to our ad-database server. Cookie blocking is controlled separately using the Cookie Blocking Switch.

When ad blocking is off, the Ad List lets you unblock previously blocked graphics. Click here for detailed instructions.

If you are turning ad blocking off in order to see an ad or other graphic that has been blocked, then your browser's cache might not let you see it. Read what to do about it here.

How do I turn ad blocking on?

What do blocked ads look like?

Guidescope gives you control over how a blocked graphic "appears". You can either have your browser draw an outlined icon in place of the blocked graphic or you can have it leave a blank space where the blocked graphic would have been. In both cases, the blocked graphic is not downloaded. The appearance of blocked graphics is set as part of your User Profile.

Using two Guidescope Menus

The "Ad Blk is On/Off" indicator might not indicate properly on the Guidescope Menu on our home page if you use the Guidescope Menu in the small window on your desktop to turn ad blocking on or off while our home page is displayed. (The Guidescope Menu on your desktop always indicates correctly.) If this happens, reload our home page to make sure that the indicators there are correct.
