Whenever you try to access a page that is no longer available, the "Archive" window, shown
on the right, opens on your desktop. (It opens whenever a server sends your browser the
message: "404 - Page Not Found".) The Archive window is a separate window from the
Guidescope Menu window.
How do I use the Archive window?
The Archive window gives you the option of accessing a Web archive for the
unavailable page. Click on "Check archive for the page not found". The Archive
window will close and the window with "page not found" in it will be
automatically directed to fetch the page from the
Google.com Web archive.
If the page is in the Web archive, then the window will load it.
If the page isn't in the Web archive, then the window will display the message
"Sorry, no content found for this URL".
If you don't want to access the Web archive for the page not found, click on "Cancel".
What if I don't want an Archive window to open?
You can control what happens when a page is not found using the Page Not Found form on your
User Profile
page. You can turn the Archive window feature on and off there.
