How do I unblock ads?
Unblock ads or other graphics using the
Ad List from the
Guidescope Menu,
shown on the right.
If you blocked a graphic and now want to see it, or if you want to "unblock"
an ad that is blocked by our database, here's how to do it:
- Make sure that ad blocking is off by checking the Guidescope Menu.
If it is on, then press the "Ad Blk. is ON" switch to turn ad blocking off.
(If the Guidescope Menu isn't already open on your computer's desktop, first
click here to open it, then return to this page.)
- With ad blocking off, force your browser to download the page with the graphics
that you want to see:
- If your browser is IE, hold down the "control" key on your computer's
keyboard (labeled "Ctrl" or "CNTL") and click on IE's "Refresh" button.
- If your browser is Netscape, hold down the "Shift" key on your computer's
keyboard and click on Netscape's "Reload" button.

Open the Ad List in a new window by clicking on "Ad List" on the Guidescope Menu.
- Check the boxes on the Ad List that are next to the ads or other graphics you want to unblock.
- Press the "UNBLOCK" button.
As soon as the Ad List closes, the graphics you selected are unblocked on your computer.
What if I can't find the ad I want in the Ad List?
If you can't find the ad in the Ad List, then your browser's cache probably prevented it
from being downloaded in Step 2 above. Cancel the Ad List and repeat the steps above.
(We've found that it sometimes takes two tries to force some browsers to download graphics.)
Read more about how you browser's cache affects ad blocking
here.
If you still can't see the ad in the Ad List, then the ad might not be a
graphical ad. Some ads are text-only or are forms formatted to look like ads. The Guidescope
service only blocks (and unblocks) graphical ads. Non-graphical ads don't show up in the Ad List.
Ads from Internet sites that use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) do not show up in the Ad list.
To protect your privacy and maintain security, we do not block ads on or examine
data streams associated with pages of Internet sites that use SSL.
