IE 4/Windows Uninstall With Proxy
|
|
Disconnect Internet Explorer 4 from our software and to your proxy:
- Print out these instructions! After you start following them you won't be able
to scroll this window down to see the rest of these instructions.
- Start Internet Explorer 4 and make sure that you are connected to the
Internet and can browse.
- Select "View" and "Internet Options..." from
IE's top menu, as shown on the right.
The "Internet Options" form will pop up, as shown below.
Click on the "Connections" tab.
- Make sure that "Access the Internet using a proxy server" is already checked on Proxy
server section on the Connections form (shown below).
If the "Automatic configuration" section says "Automatic Configuration set", contact your system
administrator before proceeding to find out what script you should use instead of the
script that uses the Guidescope software.
- Click on "Advanced" to open the "Proxy Settings" form, shown on the right.
- There should already be an entry for the HTTP address and port, as shown in the example
on the right. The entry should either be "127.0.0.1" or "localhost" for the address and
"8000" for the port. You will replace these entries with the address and port you
found in your
forward.ini file.
- Enter the address and port from your
forward.ini file,
as shown on the right.
Do not change any other entries on the form; only change the
entries for HTTP.
Use your address and port values, not those shown in the example.
- Click "OK" to complete the Proxy Settings form.
- Click "OK" to complete the Internet Options form.
- Reconfiguration is complete. Your browser is now configured to
not use the Guidescope service. Verify that you can browse
before proceeding. You can safely remove
the Guidescope software from your computer
