Connect Internet Explorer 4 to our software:
- Print out these instructions! After you start following them you won't be able
to scroll this window down to see the rest of these instructions.
- Start Internet Explorer 4 and make sure that you are connected to the
Internet and can browse.
- Select "View" and "Internet Options..." from
IE's top menu, as shown on the right.
The "Internet Options" form will pop up, as shown below.
Click on the "Connections" tab.
- If the "Automatic configuration" section says "Automatic Configuration set", contact your system
administrator before proceeding to find out if you can use a Proxy server instead. (Automatic
configurations will override any settings you enter in the "Proxy server" section.)
-
If "Access the Internet using a proxy server" is already checked, you might already be using a proxy
server. Make note of that fact for use in step 7.
Otherwise, check "Access the Internet using a proxy server".
- Click on "Advanced" to open the "Proxy Settings" form, shown on the right.
- If there are already entries next to "HTTP",
and you noted in step 5 that "Use a proxy server" was already checked,
(and you didn't put the entry there during an earlier attempt to set up your browser for our software,
and the entry isn't either "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" with port "8000"),
then your browser is already using a proxy. Cancel all the forms and
customized for you. Otherwise, continue with these instructions.
- If the checkbox "Use the same proxy server for all protocols" is checked, then
uncheck it.
- Enter HTTP Address "127.0.0.1" and Port "8000" as shown.
Note that the address has three "dots" in it!
Do not change the other address or port entries on the form.
- Click "OK" to complete the Proxy Settings form.
- Click "OK" to complete the Internet Options form.
- Setup is complete. Your browser is now configured to use the Guidescope service.
Click here to start using the Guidescope service.
