IE 5/Windows with AOL Setup

Connect Internet Explorer 5 to our software:
- Print out these instructions! After you start following them you won't be able
to scroll this window down to see the rest of these instructions.
- Start Internet Explorer 5 and make sure that you are connected to the
Internet via AOL and can browse.
- Select "Tools" and "Internet Options..." from
IE's top menu, as shown on the right.
The "Internet Options" form will pop up, as shown below.
Click on the "Connections" tab.

Make sure the "AOL" line is selected in the the "Dial-up settings"
section, and click on "Settings" there. Another form will open,
as shown below.
- Make sure nothing is checked in the "Automatic configuration" section. If anything is
checked there, then uncheck it.
- In the "Proxy Server" section, check "Use a proxy server".

In the "Proxy Server" section, click on "Advanced" to open the
"Proxy Settings" form, shown on the right.
- If the checkbox "Use the same proxy server for all protocols" is checked, then
uncheck it.
- Enter HTTP Address "127.0.0.1" and Port "8000" as shown.
Note that the address has three "dots" in it!
Do not change the other address or port entries on the form.
- Click "OK" to complete the Proxy Settings form.
- Click "OK" to complete the AOL Settings form.
- You should be back on the "Connections" tab of the "Internet
Options" form, as shown below step 3 of these instructions. You are now going to
set up the "LAN settings" the same way you just set up the "Dial-up settings". Click on
"LAN Settings...". The "Local Area Network [LAN] Settings" form will
open, as shown on the right. This form will look familiar, since it is
just like the "AOL Settings" form you saw in step 4.
- Once again, make sure that nothing is checked in the "Automatic
configuration" section and, if it is, then uncheck it.
- Check "Use a proxy server" and click on "Advanced...". Another
"Proxy Settings" form will open as shown above to the right of step 7.
Once again, if the checkbox "Use the same proxy server for all protocols"
is checked, then uncheck it.
- Enter HTTP Address "127.0.0.1" and Port "8000" as shown
to the right of step 7. Note that the address has three "dots" in it!
Do not change the other address or port entries on the form.
- Click "OK" to complete the Proxy Settings form.
- Click "OK" to complete the LAN Settings form.
- Click "OK" to complete the Internet Options form.
- Setup is complete. Your browser is now configured to use the Guidescope service.
